Description
I bought this bike as one of two air head BMWs. This is an R100RT and it came with an earlier R80RT as a parts bike. The plan was to build a custom out of the R100 and break the R80 but the R100 is really too good a bike to strip of the body work. It’s a really good low mileage bike that’s been well cared for and well stored and will have a much better life being used as it is. I’m going to use the R80 now as the custom project as it’s a non runner so will enjoy bringing that back on the road.
When the R100RT arrived I put new fuel in, inflated the tyres, did an oil check and brake test. I pulled the carb bowls off and did some basic cleanup of the jets with carb cleaner and it fired up first time and idled easily. I rode it over for an MOT and general check over and it passed with no advisories.
I’ll upload the paperwork I have which shows a well maintained bike by the previous owner. It’s ready to take to Europe and beyond.
Forks could do with some new oil and the rear monoshock has a little surface rust on it. I’d probably get a modern replacement if I was keeping it, but it really doesn’t need it.
Seat and bodywork in very good condition. Instruments and switchgear little faded but everything works exactly as expected.
Comes with full BMW hard panniers.
