For sale: 1955 Bristol LD6G Lodekka , an iconic English double-decker of the so-called half-cab model. This is a particularly early example of the Bristol Lodekka, recognizable by its grille and the fact that the nose is not entirely made of polyester. What makes this bus extra special and eminently suitable for restoration is its exceptional originality and completeness. The bus was in the hands of a single owner from 1976 to 2025! This owner purchased the bus out of service in 1976 and restored it in its original colors, without any further modifications.
The bus is in good condition, but to get it in top condition, it needs some attention. The interior is also well-maintained and offers the option of leaving it in its original state for an authentic vintage look, or renovating it to present the bus as new again. The chassis is in exceptionally good condition, requiring only a new coat of paint to last the next 70 years.
This bus served for many years on the Isle of Wight in England, a tourist destination where it was used extensively, especially in the summer. During the winter months, usage was significantly lower, resulting in less wear and tear and more time for maintenance.
The drivetrain consists of a Gardner 6LW engine, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission. The braking system is hydraulic and vacuum-assisted.
