This brilliant little John Cooper Works has been through 11 keepers in total, but I bought it from an enthusiast 6 years ago and have enjoyed/ maintained it ever since.
MOT until 11/ 10/ 2026
It is a basic R53 model and it is all about the driving experience with dark metallic grey paintwork with black roof and side panels to the rear of he front wheel arches. The paintwork shows its age - 23 years without any signs of significant re-spraying. The hatch back has some rust which is pictured. The price reflects the fact that a bit money will need to be spent to bring it up to a really good standard.
Lots of bills but can't claim full service history but recent work mitigates thisThe great news is that everything has been done mechanically to take the car forward. The engine had been running rough for a short while and there were issues that I was not happy with (including a re-map of the ECU that we couldn't seem to reverse). The engine had been running with low oil and so I took the plunge and had it completely overhauled.
Since the re-build the car has been used for 2, 500 trouble free miles and is an exceptional drive. I've loved it - it's a handful but Living between the quiet lanes of East Anglia and the Yorkshire Dales it really is one of the most entertaining cars to drive. The car has been garaged but a move abroad means that this little cracker has to go, theres a bit of cosmetic work to do but mechanically it is one of the best
