Description
The car is registered as an historic vehicle being first registered as a Morris Marina in 1975. It is therefore tax and MOT exempt.
The Marlin Kit was built in 1986 retaining much of the Marina equipment and uses the 1798cc twin SU carb engine and gearbox. (Basically an MGB engine). The engine was rebuilt in 1986 but has not been converted to run on unleaded fuel.
The engine runs very well, starts and idles with no problem.
The short wheel base Marlin Roadster chassis is built like a tank and has a towbar fitted. There is no rust showing anywhere.
The wooded floor and aluminium panels are all in good condition but some crazing is noticeable to the nearside front wing.
The car comes with roof, side screens, spare wheel cover and seperate tonneau cover all of which are in good condition.
The dash has been relaced and a multifunction disply unit fitted, but the original equipment is still with the car.
I bought this car just over a year ago with a view to up grading the interior, rewiring (along with a new fuse/ relay unit) and fitting a new rad and heater. Although some minor tasks have been done, I can no longer work on the car owing to the sudden onset of arthritis and other health issues. The major works, unfortunately, have therefore not been started. I hope someone will enjoy picking up where I have left off.
The car is fully functional but has only had a couple of very short outings this year, the last one being about 6 months ago, and has only done 39 miles since it passed its last MOT 07-11-2024.
This is the second Marlin I have owned the first one having led a happy and eventful life touring both this country and other parts of Europe. Marlins are 'fun' cars.
