Description
French spec, ordered by Jaguar Paris back in 89.
The car is in perfect working order and it has been stored indoors in a garage in Bucharest since acquired. It has also been restored for couple of issues such as steering rack, differential input sealing, rear shock absorbers, ignition, cooling system, headliner and door handles. Otherwise, the exterior is showing the time patina but it still looks good.
It has a sunroof and cloth interior which in conjunction with the powertrain variant (2. 9 auto) makes it fairly unique in the world. This has been confirmed with "XJ Register" from more than 110, 000 units known but only less than 6, 000 vehicles still active on the roads in the world.
The vehicle runs on 15" Lattice rims with All-Seasons tyres due to the lower running costs but it still has the original rims and a brand new set of tyres on 3900 mm and old standard (VR 390 TD 220/ 65) which are each costing £362, thus not running on them and kept only for display. This is the only modification made to the original spec but with the option to correct immediately if required or needed. Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust production record trace certificate available which proves the authenticity of the vehicle, such as having genuine chassis, body, engine, transmission, exterior paint colour, interior trim colour as well as manufacturing date.
I have bought the car in December 2018 from a motor vehicle trader near London who has produced its NOVA certificate for UK registration but it never end up getting British plates for it. It has been registered on French plates until transferred to Romanian plates as a historic car which comes with the "tax exempt" status. The previous registration was in the Vosges region of France and I can tell the car loves mountains as I have personally drove it across the Carpathians a few times.
It was presented and participated to a couple of events in Romania as a classic car and as seen in the pictures it served as the wedding car for myself a couple of months ago.
I am myself an Automotive Engineer and grew up while my family was running a vehicle repair business. I have worked for 9 years with Jaguar Land Rover R&D centre in Gaydon, UK. I have only used British genuine components for the vehicle maintenance and repairs.
