NO TRADE PLEASE, Reply for owners contact info and all the other photos. This 1936 Auburn Boattail is a true show stopper and a rare opportunity to own a professionally built custom with real history behind it. It was custom built in the early 1970s by Sandy Morita, and only 2, 072 original miles have been driven since completion. It has always been treated as a collector piece and maintained accordingly.
What makes this Auburn stand out is the quality and attention to detail throughout. It sits on wide whitewall radials with wire wheels and features a modified tubular steel frame with a highly detailed underside. The paint is red acrylic enamel on top with maroon underneath and matching engine detailing. Both paint and body present as a 10 out of 10 and it carries collector plates.
Under the hood is a 351 Cleveland 4V with a 650 Holley carburetor, paired to a C6 automatic that shifts exactly as it should. It has power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes with rear drums, and a Ford rear end. It starts easily, steers like new and stops perfectly. The custom dual exhaust gives it the right sound without being excessive.
Inside, the car is just as impressive. The interior features Italian leather upholstery by Arnie Schwab, a teak dash, tilt steering, and a 6 way power seat. The interior is a true 10 out of 10 and reflects the same craftsmanship as the exterior. A custom tan canvas top stores neatly in the trunk compartment behind the seat back.
This car was built to turn heads, win admiration, and be enjoyed. My favourite thing about it is the way it captures the elegance of pre-war design while delivering the reliability and drivability of a well-engineered custom build. It draws attention everywhere it goes and photographs beautifully from every angle.
