Update 17th February: full 12m MOT
1994 Mercedes W124 (C124) E320 Pillarless Coupe. Azurite blue (paint code 366) with Mushroom leather (265A). 175, 813 miles and rising.
Factory fitted electric driver's seat, ice cold air con, electric sunroof, electric mirrors, electric aerial, seatbelt butlers, outside temp, headlight wash/ wipe. All working beautifully.
Fitted with unoffensive modern Blaupunkt Bluetooth stereo (brand new with receipt) but will be supplied with the correct original Blaupunkt Verona CR43 head unit.
Famously bulletproof M104 straight 6 engine and 5 speed box starts perfectly and cruises smoothly and effortlessly. Oil pressure, temp, rev response, shifts etc all 100%. Appreciating, usable, everyday classic, not bad on fuel! Mechanically excellent with recent oil and filter change ~1000 miles ago. Current clean MOT until April 2026 but is booked in for a fresh test on 18th February.
4 x good matching Goodyear tyres. Wheels recently refurbed (pictured).
If I was being extremely picky - here are the bad bits (which I can WhatsApp you zoomed pictures of):
- Heated rear windscreen doesn't work, common on these with a slight delamination in corner of rear window.
- Bodywork generally good but roof was repainted a few years ago and there are slight imperfections - couldn't get it to show up in a photo but it's there. Arches good too, very early signs of rust on inner rear arches - had a quote of £500 (or £1100 including the roof) to get them done properly at a bodyshop but it's unnecessary in the next few years (see pics). Recent machine polish.
- Interior scrubs up very well but central cubby hinge is a bit worn, the vacuum operated rear headrests don't pop up/ down which I've never felt the need to investigate and the rear speakers are disconnected. 2 bits of paint delamination. Few small imperfections internally, wood or leather cracks etc but really nothing to worry about.
Fully documented underside restoration of subframe, brakes, sills and floorpan in 2021 including donor control arms, new rubbers, bushes, pads and ancillaries. 60 pictures, receipts etc from Mercedes-trained specialist. Folder of service history. Two keys. Various spares including rear lights, colour coded sills, brake shields, and a rare US-spec drivers central armrest with cubby storage (black leather sadly so would need recovered to match). Garaged with Goretex cover (supplied) but have lost my storage, buying a camper and want someone to enjoy pillarless luxury this summer. I'd take it anywhere at a moment's notice (please let me deliver it to the buyer for a final drive!) no doubt in my mind it's got another 175k miles in it!
