Description
I have for sale my 1970 BSA A65 Firebird. This was a one year only model of this bike with certain differences to the UK model such as the tank (as a side note, the lack of decals on the tank is correct), slightly different shaped mudguard, folding footpregs and a few other minor bits. Designed and sold to the US market, my bike made it back to the UK in 1990. The speedo shows 6800 miles and I believe this to be true (there are various MOT's since its been in the UK). It has matching correct Firebird engine and frame numbers and I have the certificate from the BSA owners club confirming the authenticity and numbers. It was sold to the East Coast. It also comes with a copy of classic motorcycle magazine who featured a similar bike but shows how correct it is.
I would say it's in very good if not excellent condition overall. It's very original and has a degree of patina so don't expect perfect. ie it has its original supplied rims and mudguards that clean up and shine beautifully, although have minor imperfections, there is some paint missing on the tank (pictured). I have sympathetically improved it during my ownership. This work includes a new clutch, full new silencers and downpipes, new carburettors, all oil and fuel hoses replaced, various bolts replaced for stainless, a full engine and gearbox oil change, some parts have been powder coated ie footrests/ sump guard/ brackets/ chainguard, new handlebar and foot rubbers and various other bits.
Starts within a couple of kicks and ticks over beautifully. Rides great. The only thing I have noticed is the front brake seems a little weak so likely needs adjusting / setting up.
I am in no rush to sell, I am just not getting the use out of it since a job change. Collection only but happy to assist with your courier if you arrange collection.
