For this last-of-the-line special edition, Range Rover Special Operations teamed up with the gun maker Holland & Holland to create 93 examples for the UK market. It carried a 50% premium over the standard car when new and features many bespoke options such as oiled walnut veneers with metal inlays (just like the guns). This car also has the desirable VHS player in the rear with twin screens in the headrests — only 25 cars were specified with this option and this car also includes both sets of original headphones and remote.
These cars are now starting to be appreciated by collectors and, as a result, values are on the rise for good examples like this one.
This particular car presents very well in H&H-specific Tintern Green with a dark brown saddle leather interior. The paintwork is good overall having just received a full machine polish and new pin stripes. It has most likely been garaged for a significant part of its life. All rubbers are free from fading and cracking. The plastics are also in similarly good condition.
The interior is very clean, leather having light patina and little wear to any of the switchgear. All wood veneers have just been professionally restored and oiled at great expense and are now in excellent condition. The headlining has also been renewed.
All four wheels are in good order and are painted to match the body colour. They are shod in a matching set of Goodyear tyres with very good tread.
With regard to the mechanicals, this car is now superb, with a brand new 4. 6 V8 unit just fitted. This engine was built by the renowned specialist John Eales of JE Developments. As such, it runs smoothly and quietly and feels significantly more powerful than any standard 4. 6 I have driven. The air suspension system, known to be problematic, is fault-free on this example, raising and lowering the car on demand and not sagging overnight. It has just been fitted with a new valve block. A new P38-correct battery has also been installed.
The car also has a fully stamped service book with a mix of main dealer and specialist history, along with a plethora of invoices.
This Holland & Holland edition is as fully loaded as P38s come and, along with its special features, includes the following: Sat Nav, Harman Kardon sound system, electric seats, heated seats, electric mirrors, climate control with air conditioning, cruise control, heated windscreen, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, airbags, etc.
Despite the mileage of 201, 000 on the shell, this car is in excellent condition, having undergone substantial recommissioning including the fitment of a new engine. I believe it has been priced very sensibly. Please do not hesitate to call or text for more information or if you have any questions.
