Ford Transit County 4x4 chassis cab tipper 2. 5 di with selectable hi and low ratio four wheel drive and front axle differential lock.
This is a true survivor of a County 4x4 Transit.
It was originally owned by a private country estate and used sparingly over the years around the estate. Later it was bought by, and kept in, a local family who also used it sparingly having only covered approximately 4000 miles in the 20 years or so. Total miles are presently just over 106, 000 but as I drive it occasionally, for the pleasure, the mileage may increase slightly.
Previous to my ownership, the two front wings and one step were replaced. The chassis remains unwelded/ repaired and is in excellent solid condition.
Since my ownership I have completed the following works:
Full waxoyl to all of the chassis, doors, bonnet, inner wings and windscreen surround/ door pillars.
Engine oil
Oil filter
Fuel filter
Cam belt
Water pump
Coolant fluid
Front axle/ differential oil change
Gearbox oil change
Transfer box oil change
Rear differential oil change
Hydraulic ram pipe for the tipper
Power steering pipes
Rare and hard to source Ford Nudge Bar
The rear tipper body is strong, rot and rust free. Tipper is strong and works perfectly.
The interior of the truck is excellent with no rips or tears in the seats, headliner is perfect. The dash is complete including the elusive cup holder.
This is an extremely rare example of a largely unrestored County single cab. Being a chassis cab making it a rare truck indeed.
4x4 system all works exactly as it should.
Classic Ford spotted it at a Ford show last year and immediately wanted to write and article for the Classic Ford Magazine July 2025
It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to sell this truck along with most of my collection of classic cars and bikes in order to move onto the waterways.
