Description
2001 BMW E36 328i Convertible Automatic, 2. 8 straight-six (2793cc) with 90, 504 miles. Three owners in total including me, with the previous two being father and son. This is a rare, largely original and unmodified example and comes with the matching hardtop as well as the original 16-inch BMW alloy wheels.
It is equipped with a Clifford 650 mk3 alarm, Alpine speakers and a Blaupunkt stereo. The original items are included with the car.
Since I have owned it the car has been serviced annually. When I purchased it the cooling system was overhauled, which is one of the key preventative jobs on these engines. It is also fitted with brand new Uniroyal tyres.
Condition is very good for age and it presents well. As with any car of this era there are age-related marks. There is a small area of corrosion starting low down near the arch/ side skirt area as shown in the photos, which a buyer may wish to address in time. Otherwise it is a straight, standard car and an increasingly hard-to-find original E36.
Included in the sale are the matching hardtop, the original 16-inch alloys, the alarm equipment and fobs if available, the stereo and speaker originals, plus any service paperwork and receipts I have. I bought this because it’s the sweet spot of the E36 range: the smooth 2. 8 straight-six and classic BMW balance, with the convertible giving you that proper open-top experience. What makes this one stand out is that it hasn’t been modified and it still feels like a proper, original E36, which is exactly what enthusiasts are chasing now.
The ownership story helps too, with the previous keepers being father and son, and it has clearly been cared for rather than passed around. The matching hardtop is a big bonus because it makes the car genuinely usable all year and gives it a more refined look and feel when fitted. Add in the preventative cooling system overhaul, annual servicing and new tyres and it’s a car you can enjoy straight away while owning something that is getting rarer in standard form.
