offered for sale is my 1977 Opel kadett C1 Coupe. I built this car during Lockdown as a project to keep me busy. Its started life as a 1. 2 shell but pretty much everything on the car has been uprated and refurbished with no expense spared. Registered in my name, colour changed and engine swap all changed over on the V5 Document.
Worth mentioning before I start that I am a timeserved bodyshop painter with 38 years experience of repairing and building classic and race cars and th I built this car during Lockdown as a project to keep me busy. Bodywork .
1977 c1 coupe 1. 2 shell . previously dry stored for over a decade, upon getting it home it was stripped completely and put on a spit, it was in remarkably solid condition and only required a pair of sills and rear arches, the rest of the shell was solid. All the underside was stripped back panted in raptor then sanded back and painted in 2pack body colour and then lacquered .
I had an idea of the look I was aiming for so the trim holes were welded up and I set about straightening the bodywork, as it is done in gloss black there is nowhere to hide, the car was painted in 2k base coat and clear , the stripes are all painted not decals , after paint the car was left to cure for 2 months , sanded back down and flow coated , 3 coats of ultra high solid 2 lacquer applied for a glass like gun finish, the body work is arrow straight down both sides no ripples .

Mechanical.
Vauxhall C20XE engine. rebuilt and fully optimised by Minster race engines (X Caterham race series 225bhp engine ) Arp bolts, all new gaskets so no oil leaks, new cam belt and tensioners/ idlers before fitting.
SBD Throttle bodies
Emerald ECU
Bespoke wiring loom / relays and modern fuse board
High pressure fuel pump
bespoke mounts.
Winged sump.
Full Bespoke stainless steel exhaust and 4/ 2-1 Manifold designed and built by AAS Newcastle.
BGH sporting close/ Quaife heavy duty T9 gearbox
Duratec heavy duty Clutch
Manta A heavy duty rear Axle rebuilt with new doughnuts and seals.
Gripper LSD fitted
HSR front crossmember gusseted and strengthened
Poly bushed steering column
All new trackrods
All suspension arms shot blasted and refurbished
Adjustable panard rod
Lowered 60mm on new Shockers and springs(August 2025).
Bespoke braking system with the biggest discs and calipers all round that I could get under a13" wheel. All bought brand new.
The only way to get bigger brakes would mean fitting 15" wheels which was something I wanted to avoid at all costs as I much prefer the period look on smaller 13” wheels.
Uprated Servo fitted.
13" Image Split rims, I had these custom made at an eye watering cost so they clear the calipers and do not catch the wheel arches, staggered 8" rears with 7" fronts.

no sound System or speakers fitted, the throttle bodies provide all the entertainment required.
I have owned this coming up 6 years and have attended numerous car shows where it always receives positive attention and regularly makes the front cover.
The car drives really well and is very useable. Current gearing makes for a great fast road car that will also cruise .

As it is coming up 49 years old, it is (loosely) Mot and Tax Exempt, insurance costs me £140 with all the modifications listed .
Only selling as I am decreasing my car collection, Its the one car I would and should possibly keep but would sell for a hassle free sale.
