Always garaged and maintained mechanically, regardless of cost, by the renowned VW restorer Nick Besant of Christian Malford ever since.
Tax and MOT exempt, though for safety's sake she has a continuous MOT history with 13 months remaining (until March 2027) with no advisories.
1979 so the last year of T2 manufacture so she benefits from front disc brakes and a standard spec, 1. 6L, air cooled, AS twin port engine.
Cosmetically and mechanically absolutely solid.
We have only had a 2 breakdowns in the last 16 years. Once with a snapped clutch cable, recovered to Beasants VW Garage, £10 for a cable and back on the road within the hour. Once with a cracked distributor cap, recovered from the M5 to The Old Dub Shop in Bristol, £10 for a new cap and again on our way within the hour. I took this opportunity to fit electronic ignition inside the distributor cap so no more messing around with points and condensers.
