VW Bay Window Panel Van 1974 (RHD) – Concours Nut & Bolt Restoration – £35, 000
Check out a full video at - details above
A very rare, unmolested early VW Bay Window panel van, first registered in 1974 and showing just one previous owner from new. This matching‑numbers van (original engine and chassis) has just completed a meticulous, no‑expense‑spared five‑year nut and bolt restoration to showroom condition inside and out. As an Historic Vehicle it qualifies for tax‑exempt status and is MOT‑exempt due to age, but it will be sold with 12 months MOT for peace of mind.
The body was stripped to bare metal and any compromised panels were replaced with OEM parts before a full repaint in classic VW baby blue with off‑white roof, with the underside finished in baby blue Raptor for durability. All running gear is new or renewed, including brakes and suspension, and it sits on Empi alloys wrapped in period‑correct Dunlop Speed tyres, with new bumpers, glass and rubbers throughout.
The original engine (60’000 miles from new) has been fully stripped and rebuilt and now presents beautifully with chrome tinware, complemented by an automatic fire‑extinguisher system in the engine bay, an RPM gauge and upgraded halogen headlights for safer night driving. Inside, the van has been completely retrimmed in a bespoke leather and paisley interior Period correct Dab/ Bluetooth HiFi, presenting as absolutely immaculate and effectively flawless from every angle. Van section is ply lined
This is an exceptional example that would sit comfortably in a collection, but it would also make a standout promotional vehicle for a business wanting a head‑turning with a period‑correct Bluetooth/ DAB advertising platform. Priced at £35, 000, which does not come close to covering the documented cost of the restoration.
