Description
Here is my 1986 Peugeot 205 GTi (D244 DFH). I purchased this car in 2023 from a dedicated previous owner who had carried out a sympathetic, high-standard restoration. Since I’ve owned it, I have tried my hardest to keep it in that same "show-ready" condition, keeping it indoors and only taking it out at the weekends, with the only thing to note being the crack on the lower portion of the dash and some extremely slight bubbling above the door as both shown in the photos. However other than that it truly is a fantastic example of the original Phase 1, 1. 6.
The Restoration: The previous owner did an incredible job bringing this car back to its best. It was restored with a focus on originality—retaining the Phase 1 grey seats with narrow stripes, the iconic red carpets, and even the original dealer number plates and handbook pack.
Finished in Rally White with red-on-grey trim. The quality of both the interior and exterior is superb; it’s a very honest, clean car that turns heads everywhere it goes and attracts the usual "i know someone that had one of these when i was a kid" or to the likes.
It has the punchy 1. 6L (105bhp) engine and that legendary agile handling. Just before I took ownership, it had a new cambelt, fresh brakes, and Hankook tyres fitted, so it’s mechanically ready to go.
It is showing 116, 957 miles, but, it drives and presents like a much lower-mileage car. It is tight, responsive, and ready for a Sunday drive or a car show.
Why I'm Selling:
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed owning such an iconic 80s hatch (the definitive hot hatch), but due to little use i am unfortunately looking to get rid of it. With the sale of the car there is of course a large history folder to accompany, with extensive records dating back to 2003, and all parts ordered for the car and previous MOT history in print. This includes reciepts for the more recent work, Cam-belt change new tires and brakes. Furthermore on the sale, there will be a complete service carried out.
