I have this 1997 Volkswagen Golf VR6 for sale. Finished in Brilliant Black Metallic and with matching black cloth trim, its quite rare in that it has a manual gearbox – so many of these are fitted with an auto box which is a quite different thing.
Its covered 107438 miles and has a substantial collection of paperwork (old receipts and MOT certificates) and has the original owner’s handbook pack including the handbook. Specification includes electric window and mirrors, power steering, twin airbags, glass sunroof and it even has its original Gamma stereo fitted. Just before the current owner acquired the car in 2021, it had a substantial bodywork restoration with all rust spots properly repaired followed by a repaint. There is a large file of photos to back this up which we are happy to share. Bodywork is in excellent condition with no rust on sills, wheel arches, wings etc. Its also sitting on its original 16” BBS alloys though the tyres fitted are all quite old and showing signs of wear.
The current owner has covered less than 2000 miles in his ownership; in fact the car has only covered 7000 miles in the last ten years. With this in mind, the car has just had a full check over and service. This resulted in all brake calipers being stripped, cleaned and refitted with new brake pads and two new front brake discs fitted. A new battery was fitted along with anew Bosch alternator and belt, Finally the car was given a new MOT, valid until December 2026. The bill for this lot was over £700.
The car dries exceptionally well with strong performance. Gear change and clutch are just as they should be and it rides and handles well. And of course it sounds fabulous with a lovely V6 rumble which just gets better under hard acceleration.
There are still a few minor jobs that doing (there is a small crack in a rear lamp unit and the headlining is drooping at the rear) but its a lovely car and I’ve no doubt its new owner will love it.
