Description
Hello here is my bus . I worked with Aircooled vw for over 20 years and when I wanted to buy my forever bus , I looked all around for one that was good enough, it took me 4 years to find this and I will tell you why it’s so special.
I wanted a bus that would cruise at 65-70 mph because of the Lorrie’s that are stuck at 56 are just very hard to mix with , it needed to have never been structurally welded and be in excellent condition underneath, it needed to be a tin top right hand drive , and it needed to be a cool 70s colour .
It proved very difficult, I looked at over 49 that were described as amazing but just were not when I got there , I almost gave up when someone from the Volkswagen club got in contact and told me about a member who was selling his bus , and this is where I found her.
She is a 2. 0 litre with a 6 rib flyer factory gearbox , these engines are amazing producing 75 bhp and almost twice as much torque as a lame 1600, they run on unleaded fuel and pull so well .
She was built in Germany in hanover in summer of 1975, (I have the original build sheet) and immediately shipped to Johannesburg in South Africa, where she lived until 2019 in the sunshine with almost no rain and zero salt , she was then imported into the uk and registered .
The owner loved her and kept her very well until he had major surgery on his lower spine and was u able to drive her anymore so she had to be sold , it was very important to him who bought her and after 3 cups of tea and what can only be described as an interview.. I bought her .
I immediately sent the wheels off to be blasted and painted in the original silver and fitted with 4 brand new matching tyres of the correct van spec , then I sent her to Angus at the very camper company (the best Aircooled specialist in the uk) to have the engine removed and a couple of oil leaks solved , the heater cables renewed so the heater is amazing, the fuel
Lines all replaced, and a full bench service carried out , then engine refitted , tuned correctly and a new Bosch alternator fitted , then I get her back and fitted new fuel sender and gauge , refurbished the original brake Calipers , and rebuilt the blower motor , so now everything worked as it should. I then replaced the badges with stainless steel ones and also headlight rings stainless
She has been loved with no expense spared , in 12 months I have spent £5000 just getting her up to spec .
SHE HAS ONE KEY FITS ALL LOCKS!!!
I have the original build sheet and original handbook and service history
She will come with a new mot once sold , and she is of course tax exempt.
You simply won’t find a better more useable bus that’s never been restored, she’s more like a 5 year old vehicle than a 51 year old.
She would make a very lovely camper
My name is adam , unfortunately I am retiring and moving to a boat so I just can’t keep her , I would never use her . It’s sad but I have to be realistic, I am in no rush to sell her , I don’t need the money and I will be choosing the right custodian for her so please give me a ring if you might be that person . Work number is the details below adam or Paul might answerBest unrestored bus will find. My work number is the details below
