Description
Here we have a 1964 Gilbern GT1800, being an early model it is a non overdrive car, it it was originally fitted with a 3 bearing MGB engine, this has since been replaced with the later 5 bearing 18V spec engine. Needless to say the engine is very strong and pulls well with good oil pressure. The engine has now been fitted with electronic ignition.
The car was extensively restored in 1999, and after a period of storage was re-commissioned last year, at which time some chassis repair work was carried out by a specialist Gilbern restorer. The car drives well and has a very good interior, with it retaining its correct dash panel and Formula wood rim steering wheel, however the car is in need of some front end paintwork after a bodged attempt by the previous owner.
PLEASE NOTE: If you need to sell another vehicle as to provide funds or want to part exchange a vehicle, then please do pass me by!The car was originally supplied by Gilbern's Bristol agents GS Cars of Bristol to the Managing Director of the Heavy Tree Brewery in Exeter. The car them returned to GS Cars in 1967 when another new Gilbern GT was purchased.
