or sale is my CHiPS Kawasaki KZ1000P - release your inner Ponch...
I am selling her as she has sat unused in my garage for the last few years, and I now realise I can remember the times with it rather than having it sat there, given someone else can enjoy it
She’s called Batfink1. I purchased her in 2012, from a guy called Andy in Oregon USA. He got the bike direct from Oregon Highway Patrol (so I guess its more OHiPS) when it was retired from active service at 50K.
A Long story, and a trip report, that I can email to any prospective purchaser could ensue, however suffice to say that I did the cross USA trip in 2013, and shipped her back to the UK – where it has been since (apart from a quick trip over to D Day beaches etc)
Anyway – to the bike.
Mileage is now 60k, and the full engine service inc shims was done about 1500 miles ago. The engine is absolutely fine, and was subject to over maintenance when in service.
As its been standing, its going to need at least:
Carb clean
Tyres
Fluid and filter service
Front brake RHS calliper sticks
The worlds best cleaner – particularly for the engine alloy
Possibly a battery – though it will turn over (wont start as no fuel)
Possibly more though unknown to me!
The chain and sprockets have been upgraded so she can tour at 65mph in comfort – especially with the seat and screen – the bikes originally were pursuit bikes built for acceleration and geared to top out at around 65.
The engine has been bulletproof, and is the Z1000 engine evolution from the late 70’s onwards – so no problem with spares etc. I stickered it up at each place I visited, obs they can be removed if you wish to blag free entry with it to classic shows etc.
I will be sad to see her go, yet my head says as not used for so long, its time….
