Description
1955 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday 2-door Hardtop Coupé / mild customized
A lot happened in the USA in 1955:
Walt Disney opened his first theme park, Disneyland, in Anaheim, California, Elvis Presley achieved nationwide fame with his new contract with RCA Records, James Dean lost his life in a tragic car accident, and Ray Kroc celebrated the opening of his first McDonald's restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois.
The year 1955 also brought revolutionary changes to American automotive history, as the “jet age” began: Almost all American manufacturers completely redesigned their model ranges in a stylized rocket design, using distinctive body elements, lots of chrome, and huge panoramic windows to give their respective models a futuristic look.
Leading the way was Oldsmobile, which successfully launched the second generation of its “88” – now available as a 2-door and 4-door sedan, a convertible, and a rare Holiday 2-door hardtop coupe. In the latter, the elimination of the B-pillar created a particularly elegant and delicate side profile.
This 1955 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday 2-door hardtop coupe, which we are offering on behalf of a customer, is also particularly rare and elegant: the repainted body, which now shines red wine red or black depending on the light, and the almost completely white interior, which provides a successful contrast, make this Olds a “mild custom car”.
The overall condition can be described as very good. The 324 cui V8 engine, combined with the automatic transmission, delivers 202 hp and starts and runs flawlessly. The interior is also in absolutely pristine condition.
The 5-digit speedometer shows a mileage of approximately 8, 800 miles. The next MOT/ inspection is due this year, but can be redone on request and at an additional cost.
The sale is being conducted on behalf of a private customer. All information used comes from the seller. Errors excepted.
