This Seeley MK2 Matchless G50 is a genuine classic racing motorcycle built around a Roger Titchmarsh Seeley MK2 frame and powered by a Matchless G50 engine prepared by Fred Walmsley.
The bike is presented in full racing specification, featuring a TTI 6-speed magnesium gearbox, a Dell’Orto PHM40NS carburettor, a 230 mm twin leading shoe front drum brake, and a rear drum brake with a Suzuki cush-drive hub.
The engine, built in 2004 by Fred Walmsley, produces approximately 51 hp at the rear wheel. Walmsley engines are well known in historic racing circles for their performance and reliability.
The motorcycle is fitted with Kirby-style racing bodywork, aluminium fuel and oil tanks, and various high-quality racing components.
The bike is sold with a useful package of racing spares including:
Euro Racing electric starter (220 V – 2. 7 kW)

rear sprockets
Dell’Orto jet kit
The motorcycle is in good running condition and race-ready, as expected for a well-maintained historic racing machine. As with any competition motorcycle, routine checks and preparation are recommended prior to intensive track use.
This Seeley MK2 represents an excellent opportunity for a rider wishing to participate in historic motorcycle racing events, or for a collector looking for an iconic classic racing machine. This Seeley MK2 Matchless G50 was acquired as a genuine historic racing motorcycle, built around high-quality and well-known components within the classic racing world.
The bike combines a Roger Titchmarsh Seeley MK2 frame with a Matchless G50 engine built by Fred Walmsley in 2004, originally prepared for well-known British classic racer Tim Jackson. According to the previous owner, the engine was previously used in historic racing including events such as the Goodwood Revival and the Lansdowne Classic Series.
The motorcycle was later assembled using quality racing components and has seen very limited use since. It remains a pure racing motorcycle and has never been road registered, which is typical for machines built specifically for historic competition.
What attracted me to this bike is the combination of the legendary Seeley chassis, one of the most respected frames ever designed for classic racing singles, and a Walmsley-built G50 engine, a name synonymous with performance and reliability in the historic racing paddock.
Another strong point of this motorcycle is its eligibility for several major historic racing championships including CRMC, CRMB, IHRO and the French Classic Racing Championship, making it a very versatile and competitive machine for anyone wishing to race in classic events across Europe.
Overall, this is a beautifully engineered and authentic classic racing motorcycle, built from excellent components and ready to be enjoyed either on the track or as part of a serious historic racing collection.
