Description
DUCATI 750 Competition
Unique machine, short-race engine and Carrillo connecting rods on plain bearings, Pistal HC pistons, 60° valve angle, Dell'Orto 42mm carburettor, double gearbox locking, dry clutch, MP Sachse ignition, Verlicchi frame with reduced headstock angle, modified Ceriani front fork, Öhlins rear shocks, Lockheed braking.
Sold with registration certificate, and CAO CATIA file for manufacturing a new crankshaft if needed.
Complete dossier with details of engine modifications, press article, partial racing history, etc.. on request. I built this machine for the track in the 1990s to participate in classic bike competitions, with the aim of addressing the main faults of the Ducati 750 twins with conical gear trains on circuits (wheelbase and head angle too large, congenital crankshaft fragility, random gear engagement, cylinder-head assembly too bulky to allow a drastic reduction of the head angle).
I deeply modified the engine to achieve a bore/ stroke ratio of 87mm/ 64mm (original 80mm/ 74. 4mm) and made a smooth-bearing crankshaft from a 851 crankshaft, deep modification of the lubrication circuit with an oil filter.
The cylinder heads were modified to reduce the valve angle from 80° to 60° to obtain a more compact combustion chamber.
Dry clutch and selector detent modified for better gear engagement.
Numerous participations in the Ardennes history of Jehonville, and absolute lap record in 1997, participations in the Classic TT of Gedinne (3rd and 2nd), participations in various classic motorcycle events (Pro Classic, hill climbs, Speed Trophy (Rhine Ring), some participations in Moto Légende cups, riding within the Ducati Club, etc...).
