History:
The TR3OC dating certificate indicates that the bike was manufactured during May 1971, with the frame and engine serial numbers as detailed above. The supplying dealer was Comerford's, located in Thames Ditton, Surrey, who registered the bike on the 12th July 1971. The first private owner of the bike was Mr P Presswell, of Shepperton, Middlesex.
During the 2000s the original owner commenced a rebuild of the bike. However, the project was never completed due to him moving to the US in around 2010.
In 2018 the bike was sold on to a Mr D Sketchley (second owner, excluding the supplying dealer), who completed the restoration to a very high standard. The work carried out by Mr Sketchley was photographically documented (I have included a selection of photographs in this advert), and included the following:
Frame and associated parts powder coated.
Wheels rebuilt with new rims and stainless-steel spokes.
Front forks rebuilt with new seals, etc.
Steering rebuilt using new bearings.
Swingarm rebuilt with new bearings and seals.
Fuel tank, mud guards and side panels repainted.
Engine dismantled, castings vapour blasted.
Cylinders re-bored and honed, and new pistons fitted.
Engine reassembled with new bearings, seals and gaskets.
Gearbox dismantled and rebuilt with new bearings, seals and gaskets.
New Amal carburettors fitted.
New exhaust headers and silencers fitted.
New wiring loom fitted.
Ignition upgraded to use a Tri-Spark TRI-0002 electronic system.
I have owned the bike since 2020. During my ownership the bike has been dry stored in a nice cosy integral garage and used sparingly on dry sunny days. Last Autumn the bike was serviced with fresh oil, the carburettors were cleaned and balanced, and a new battery fitted. I have recently added fuel and run the bike to ensure all is well.
