I am the fourth owner of this 2000 Audi A6 (C5) 4. 2 V8 Avant having purchased it in July 2024. I had intended on keeping the car as our daily driver but our circumstances changed and we now have a newer Mercedes C-Class estate at our disposal. The car has very low mileage at 81, 430, especially considering it’s 26 years old.
It has a current 12-month MOT and has had the following done to it in my ownership:
- Rocker cover gaskets, camchain adjusters, sump gasket, new timing belt and water pump. Circa £2400 at local specialist
- Upgrade to the RS6 Coolant tank
- New OSF CV boot
- New fuel cap
- 2 x new window regulators
- Replacement OEM luggage cover with dog net
- Replacement rear parking sensors
- New battery March 2026
Sadly, the car does not have any history prior to my purchase as the last owner has misplaced it. The very low mileage can however be verified by it's MOT history available via the DVLA website.
The body work is in average condition for its age with some lacquer peel and a dent in the NSF wing. All wheels would benefit from a refurbishment, but otherwise the car presents well.
Internally the LCD display on the dash has pixelated and there are a few buttons which are a little worn, but otherwise the cabin is a very pleasant place to be. This car is a very interesting factory wide body car, with the 299bhp 4. 2l n/ a V8. I think it's the definition of a sleeper/ Q car which was the appeal to me when I purchased it. It's fast, super practical, was built at the peak of Audi build quality and I believe due to start increasing in value. I believe given the spec and wide body it's much rarer than the equivalent S6/ RS6 of the same generation and definitely more subtle. I was hoping to keep the car long term but don’t have the storage for this and our Audi 80 Cabriolet, so I need to downsize the fleet.
The wide body is usually only found on the S6/ RS6 models of this era and comprises:
- 3. 2" wider track due to differences in control arms, brake and wheel offsets + wider wheels/ tires
- 1. 4" longer body length
- wider arches
- longer and wider bonnet
- wider front and rear bumpers
- wider headlights
- wider windscreen and longer wiper arms
- aluminium bonnet
- aluminium front wings
- aluminium suspension running gear (control arms/ knuckles)
- aluminium front subframe
- larger door blades than non-allroad narrowbody (4. 2/ S6)
It also has pretty rare 8x 17" Audi 8 spoke Speedline alloys, which I've not seen prior to owning this car.
Internally it was specified with the Bose Sat Nav+ system, full black leather interior and wood trim.
