Description
The C43 AMG was launched in 1997 and was the successor to the C36 AMG.
The W202 was the first model to be fully assembled in-house at Mercedes-Benz. It was also the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class to be powered by the M113 V8 engine.
It features a 4. 3-liter V8 with a 90° cylinder bank. It was based on the engine used in the W210 E 430.
The M113 E 43 engine features a single overhead camshaft per cylinder bank, three valves per cylinder (two intake, one exhaust), dual-spark ignition, wet-sump lubrication, and sequential fuel injection. It features an aluminum oil pan, hollow forged steel connecting rods, one-piece cast camshafts, and a magnesium intake manifold. The engine block itself is made of Alusil. Unlike the standard 4. 3-liter V8 engine produced in Unterturkheim, the AMG versions assembled in Affalterbach featured a number of improvements aimed at increasing power, particularly at higher engine speeds. These included stiffer valve springs, modular camshafts instead of cast ones with modified timing, a higher-pressure oil pump, piston-head cooling oil jets, larger fuel injectors, a new, twin-tube free-flow air filter, and a magnesium intake manifold. The engine control unit (ECU) was also remapped.
The C 43 was equipped with the five-speed automatic transmission from the then-current SL 500, modified for more efficient gear changes at high engine speeds.
ASR traction control was fitted as standard.
The suspension features double wishbones at the front and a multilink arrangement at the rear. Compared to the standard C-Class Sport, the AMG features stiffer gas-pressurized shock absorbers, a slightly lower ride height, and thicker anti-roll bars.
The C 43 features a fully ventilated braking system from the W210 E55 AMG. The front discs measure 334 mm in diameter, while the rear discs measure 300 mm. Two-piston floating calipers are used on both axles.
In the interior of the C 43, Mercedes has removed some of the features found on the C 36, such as the two-tone steering wheel, matching two-tone gear shift knob, and light gray instrument cluster. These have been replaced with monochrome elements and a satin black panel.
Instead of the Sport Check velour cloth, leather upholstery is standard, and the original black instruments have been replaced with ones with white dials.

Production of the model lasted from September 1997 to May 2000.
A total of 3, 857 units were produced, including 3, 085 in the sedan version shown here.
The presented example was imported to Poland in 2018 from Japan.
Since then, it has been part of a private collection and has seen virtually no use. Oils and fluids have been changed regularly due to its age.
The bodywork is in very good condition, free from scratches and dents.
Completely original, with no modifications.
The interior is clean and well-maintained, reflecting the Mercedes' low mileage.
The engine, gearbox, and all mechanical components function flawlessly.
The equipment is fully functional.
