2005 Suzuki GSX-R750 K5 Barry Sheene Edition
No. 42 of 50 produced
The Suzuki GSX-R750 K5 Barry Sheene Edition was a limited edition machine built to commemorate the life and achievements of the legendary racer Barry Sheene MBE. With a very low production run, just 50 machines were produced. The GSX-R750 K5 offered a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder 749cc engine, producing 145hp at 12800rpm.
This 'replica' model has formed part of a private collection of motorcycles that has been well cared for. This particular bike is an excellent example to keep and cherish whilst stirring the memory of the great rider.
MCN Commissioned just 50 of these Limited Edition GSXR750 models and donated part of the sale to Barry Sheene's charity. The bikes are all numbered & have fast become a collector s joy! The paint job is a great replica of his World Championship Winning XR14 & is absolutely stunning!
A three-time Grand Prix world champion, Barry Sheene MBE remains one of Britain’s most famous two-wheel racers.
All three of his championship wins on the world stage came with Suzuki, who as a result built 50 limited edition GSX-R750 K5 motorcycles to honour Sheene.
Sheene won the third of his three world championships in 1977, and although he failed to win another, his success continued for many years as he wrapped up wins and podium finishes whilst competing for Suzuki and then Yamaha, with whom his last victory came.
Sheene’s impact on racing was huge and he was one of the biggest names of his era, and while Suzuki would go on to claim further success including its last world title win in 2020 when Joan Mir won the MotoGP title, Sheene’s name remains synonymous with the brand when we think about racing.
One of its most famed sportbikes, Suzuki’s GSX-R750 remains a very popular bike worldwide and this Sheene limited edition K5 model offers a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder 749cc engine, producing a whopping 145hp at 12800rpm
