Description
You are looking at a custom-built and unique Dresda Honda 750. This motorcycle has recently been the subject of a complete ground-up restoration by the performance specialists at Dresda, who were also responsible for its original modification.
This 1986 Honda CBX750 was originally part-modified by the British racing firm for the previous owner, LJK Setright. Leonard Setright was a well-known and highly regarded car and motorcycle journalist. He bought this bike from the Honda UK press fleet in 1987 and then asked Dresda’s proprietor, former racer Dave Degens, to amend it to his specifications.
Originally, the bike was fitted with a Dresda ‘Barcelona’ twin-headlight fairing with two Cibie spotlights. It also came with clip-ons, rear sets, a modified tank and seat unit, 16in Dymag wheels front and rear, Michelin radial tyres and a Dresda four-into-one exhaust system. The engine, frame and suspension were standard Honda.
The bike has been with its present (third) owner since 1996. Having spent several years in storage, it has now been fully restored and upgraded.
The bike’s engine has been fettled by a Honda specialist and now runs beautifully. The carbs have been rebuilt with new inlet rubbers and throttle cables, and there’s been a complete engine service with new spark plugs, oil and filters.
The fairing, tank, seat unit and instruments have all been replaced with new Dresda items. Front forks from a Honda CBR600 have replaced the original CBX750 items, with 17in front and rear wheels and brand new Michelin Pilot Road 120/ 60 front and 160/ 60 rear tyres. The brakes have also been completely updated.
Having been rarely used all its life, the mileage before the refurbishment was carried out stood at 7500 miles. All the engineering and restoration work has been carried out by Dresda, with over £7000 worth of work done. All invoices are available. The bike is fully road legal, is taxed until March 2027 and has a new MOT. The original Honda CBX750 modified fuel tank and seat unit, side panels, original CBX750 bodywork, Cibie spot lights, original instrument pod and 16in front and rear Dymag wheels with Michelin tyres are included in the sale.
