Description
I've made the decision to sell my much loved Fiat Punto Cabrio.
It's the earlier and simpler 1600cc engine. It runs as if new. There's always a few squeaks from a cabrio, but none more than the day it left the showroom.
The condition is A1. It won 'best Fiat' at the 2025 Fiat & Friends show in August at the British motor museum. Since then, it's covered under 1000 miles and the condition remains the same. Having said that, it does have a chip next to the bonnet badge that stops it from perfection. Everywhere I take it, it gets attention and compliments.
It drives beautifully and always feels perfectly tight and smooth. I used it to take me from Hull to the Isle of Iona last May - a huge drive, roof down all the way and not a beat missed. It had a new rear and central exhaust fitted by me in summer 2024. I fitted a new steering column switch assembly and clockspring assembly last autumn with a brand new boxed and unopened replacement. Using the indicators now is just as it would have been at the Bertone factory in 1996.
The car was fully repainted in 2022 and a new hood was fitted. The hood works perfectly and the paintwork is stunning. Electric windows are quite slow to wind up and down but they get there. New speakers have recently been fitted and the interior is in very good condition.
The car has done 67, 000 miles in the last 30 years. I like to use my cars but even so, mileage has been low under my ownership.
I've owned forty cars, and this Fiat is right up there at the top. Every drive gives huge pleasure and just looking at it brings a smile. Any owner will have to be prepared for conversations with strangers, as it attracts genuine enthusiasm from others, wherever I take it. If you want to own a car that's the best of its kind, this Punto is the ideal buy. I've had alot of fun showing it off at various car meets over the last few years. As a retro and classic car enthusiast, I've ensured that it's been very well looked after and the owner prior to me also lavished it with attention.
The pictures hopefully speak for themselves. It's an absolute steal when compared to the prices 205CTi's go for, but the Punto is so much cooler.
A good aspect of the car is that it's been as reliable a drive as it has been a great show car. It's an ideal classic all-rounder. The reason for sale is that unfortunately it has to make way for a couple of first cars for my two daughters, who are learning to drive. I will regret its sale the minute it leaves the garage, but I hope it gets the opportunity to move on to a caring owner.
(With the exception of the last three, all photos taken on 9th April 2026).
