This 123GT offers the rare opportunity to own a fully sorted example of Volvo’s premium 1960s touring sports car. Perfect for rallies, classic shows, or enthusiast touring. The 123GT's creation was partly driven by logistics: delays in body manufacturing for the P1800 in the UK left Volvo with a surplus of high-performance B18B engines and M41 overdrive transmissions. To utilize these parts, Volvo developed the 123GT for enthusiasts who wanted sporty performance in a more spacious, two-door sedan package.
High-compression 1. 8L B18B (115 hp SAE) with twin SU carburetors and a sports camshaft with the M41 four-speed manual with electrically operated Laycock de Normanville overdrive transmission and an uprated, stiffer suspension and front disc brakes as standard.
Produced in small numbers until 1970, estimates suggest only 1, 500 to 5, 000 units were ever built, primarily for Sweden, Canada, and parts of Europe. Its success in rallying cemented its reputation for "bulletproof" reliability and toughness. Today, it is one of the most collectible Scandinavian cars from the era
