Description
I have too many cars - 8 in total, reluctantly, I must create space, hence this superb low mileage Pug Coupe is up for grabs.
It's in lovely Ariane blue, with rare tan interior, it has a current MOT and has total mileage of 75, 000. The odometer says 52, 674 miles, but the service history shows a new speedometer was fitted at 22, 000 miles.
This car gives the impression from its number plate that it was new in 2003, that's not so, from the build number, I know that it was built in March of 2001.
It was retained by Peugeot in Europe for reasons unknown, until September of 2002. There is a movement order for it to be moved from Paris to a Peugeot main agent in London. It was sold from that main agent in April 2003.
I bought the car almost 3 years ago with 39, 000 miles showing. There is some service history, but it's incomplete. So, soon after buying the car, I changed the cam belt, the tensioner and all the rollers. I also changed the water pump and the crankshaft pulley at the same time. I also treated it to an oil and filter change and a change of transmission fluid.
I did some touring of France and Belgium in it in 2024, and what a fabulous, powerful, effortless cruiser it is. This was part of an organised trip with 9 other cars. The Pug carried all the support stuff, tools, trolley jack, axles stands and essential fluids etc - and still it did almost 30 MPG!
It starts on the button, is smoother than whipped ice cream and has oodles and oodles of very usable power. It has had 4 new tyres about 8, 000 miles ago and 2 x new rear brake calipers, brake discs and pads. I also changed the speedometer sensor as the unit was fluctuating a bit.
The car is in very good condition indeed - I can find no rust in it anywhere - but it is not perfect. There are some minor paint blemishes, mainly in the lacquer and the headlining is sagging in 2 places, mainly at the back.
Prior to getting it ready for sale, I've just changed the engine oil and filter and done another transmission fluid change - I've always been a diligent oil/ fluid changer - with the philosophy that when cars run on clean oil, they go forever.
I'm looking for £2, 750 - is there another Pug Coupe 3. 0 V6 available as good as this one for modest outlay?I bought the Pug because as soon as I laid eyes on it - I just had to have it. The Pininfarina styling is just a treat for the corneas and driving this car makes me smile, every single time! There is intrigue with this Pug as it was retained in Europe by Peugeot for 18 months - why - I don't know. Maybe that's why it has no badges on the boot lid...?
I drove the car in Laon in Northern France on a classic car run, with locals lining the route - despite many Porsches, TVRs and Alfa Romeos they were thrilled to see the Pug shouting 'bravo Peugeot' when we drove by - which was simply delightful.
I had to have it - even though I already had (and still have) a 1999 Peugeot Coupe 3. 0 V6 in Ariane blue, the only differences being a black interior and manual gearbox.
