Description
1908 Stanley H5 SteamCar. Described in the Stanley brochure as Gentlemen’s Speedy Roadster or fast touring car. Two seater with 23 inch boiler, 3 5/ 8 x 5 inch engine, 20 horse-power.
“The model H5 is indeed a Gentlemen’s Speeding Car, and is intended for those who wish to hit speeds of 65 or 70 miles per hour”
It has a water capacity for 40 to 50 miles and a fuel capacity for 125 to 150 miles. This car has undergone a major refit in 2016/ 2017 including replacing the boiler upgrading the burner and pilot light. The car has only covered a little over 1000 miles since this work was completed with all new stainless steel boiler cladding and smoke hood.
The body work and paint finish on the car is excellent all round as you will see from the attached photographs.
The current annual boiler certificate expires in October 2026. The ten year test is not due until August 2027.
The car has a Veteran Car Club Passport enabling participation in their events.
