Description
Not available for purchase on the open market for 58 years. Some would describe it as a garage find, however I've known it all my life, and it's been off the road garaged since 1985. With the exception of 1 window I cleaned a number of years ago to see what it would come up like, I've left it as is - garage dust and all for the next owner to decide what route to take with it.
A right hand drive UK supplied 3 owner car with 39, 000 miles on the clock. The original log book shows it was purchased new in May 1966 with a surname and address change by the original owner. I'm guessing marriage and they updated the surname when they changed address. My great Auntie then purchased the car when it was 2 years old in June 1968. She drove it for around 9 years until my father purchased it from her in 1977. He drove it as his daily to and from the centre of Bath until he took it off the road due to a rust hole in the floor that needed repairing. That was towards the end of 1985, and that was the last time the car saw the road apart from on a recovery truck from his garage to my garage some years ago. My father, now 88 years old, has finally decided he's not going to get round to repairing it (nor am I), and it's time for it to go.
Bear in mind this was used as a daily in the UK rain, shine, and even snow, plus it's a Fiat that was built in the 60's. That means it's had lots of rust repair in the past - and needs more now. It's not been ran for a minimum of 38 years. Bizarrely the tyres, although not safe for road use, still hold air well. It is very much a full restoration project. What you see of the interior seats etc is original, along with original paintwork on the dash, inside of the upper shell, and upper parts of the doors. The outside has been painted all over during the course of it's life and has surface rust spiders under the paint. The sills look like they want replacing along with floor pan repairs required. The arches are showing signs of rust and previous repair. The drivers door isn't great at all at the bottom, but it comes with a spare pair of doors that are in good shape that my late Uncle took off his 500 when he scrapped it many moons ago. It also has a full set of spare glass from the same vehicle.
Quite a few of the new spares pictured are Genuine Fiat that my Dad purchased from a Fiat dealer selling obsolete stock back in the early 80's, and will come with the car.
Comes with the original Fiat drivers handbook, a host of paperwork to include receipts, a repair manual, and even the original tool kit.
We have just obtained the new style V5 log book as we wanted to keep the original with the paperwork history of the car, and ensure the new owner can be confident they won't encounter any registration issues with it having been off the road for so long.
