1960 Frogeye Sprite race car.
fast and well sorted.
Includes hard top, plus large quantity of spares and variety of diffs.
The car currently has aluminium doors and GRP bonnet. All other panels are steel, and the original steel doors are included (but not the original steel bonnet).
Converted to competition specification in 2011 by Joe Mackrell, a well known Healey specialist and racer who regularly shared the car at speed hill climbs with the current owner. Fully eligible for Healeysport Sprite and general Championships.
Front suspension is uprated dampers and 400lbs springs. Rear Peter May lowered springs with vertical shockers. Front discs with green stuff pads. Rear – Riley 1. 5 drums with competition shoes. Engine rebuild 2019. Big valve Brett Sims head. Line bored mains 4 bolt steel centre cap. Med offset roller rockers. Rob Walker Eng bladed crankshaft. -10″ balanced and nitrided Cooper S rods. Lightened and balanced SW23 camshaft. Pit Stop rolling road setup. Pistons are Omega forged ones, 6cc dis. Baffled sump pan. Ford Mexico clutch and Peter may thrust race on an ultra-light flywheel and titanium clutch fork.
Currently not practical for road use, given the small capacity sprint fuel tank and cut down racing windscreen. However, the original screen, wipers, regular fuel tank etc all included in sale.
In present ownership since 2019, campaigned by Claire Giles with personal best times: Shelsley Walsh 38 secs, Prescott 55 secs, Loton Park 65 secs, Harewood 71 secs.
