Description
1989 Mercedes-Benz 190 W201 * Completely original example, 95k miles, beautiful car*
Signal Red with Black Interior
Offered for sale is my 190. I’m a massive German car enthusiast with an interest in cars from the 60s to early 2000s. The 190 is a car you have to own at least once if you appreciate Germanic build quality, superb simplicity and outstanding engineering.
This particular example is a carburettor variant and these are now very few and far between. Paired with the manual transmission, this car is a real joy to drive compared to automatic variants.
This car is so beautifully original, I am pretty certain the entire car still wears its original paintwork and the car is completely rot free. This is pretty astounding for a model that does sadly suffer from rust and a car that is currently 37 years old. The inner wings, boot floor, door shuts, bottom of doors, near the boot seal and wheel arches are completely solid and there is no rot. I aim to have captured this in the photographs I have taken.
On the road, the car is a true delight. It is light, nimble and surprisingly peppy from the 2. 0 power plant and 5 speed manual gearbox. There are no creaks, noises, knocks or bangs. It drives without fault.
There are no known faults anywhere on the car and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive this car anywhere.
The car comes with a service book with some stamps, some MOTs, old tax discs and the car currently has a Sony head unit with Bluetooth compatibility.
MOT is until 17 September 2026. I would also like to mention that this example has NEVER had a single advisory on any MOT!
From April 2030 this car will be able to become registered as a historic vehicle and therefore will become ULEZ and other clean air zones, tax and MOT exempt.
If you’re after an original 190, with sensible miles on the clock and are looking for a car to enjoy, I truly believe this is the car for you.
I am sure first to see will buy. I really want this car to go to a fellow enthusiast like myself.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Any questions along the lines of “what’s your best price?” will be ignored. Cars like this are only getting more and more scarce and I think I have priced it very sensibly for such a car it is.
Thank you for reading.
