Description
VAUXHALL ASTRA MK3 (F) 1996
August 1996 and the Summer Olympics in Atlanta had just concluded with GB winning 15 medals, The Spice Girls where at the top of the charts with Wannabe and Nokia had released the 1610 Mobile Phone. At the same time, a brand new titanium silver Vauxhall Astra was driven out of the showroom for the first time registered P201GMP and enjoyed by the first owner for the next 4 years. The next owner cherished the car for the following 26 years keeping it safe and secure in his garage and covering only about 28000 miles in that time to its current mileage of 52700. The car is real survivor, not perfect or a show winner, but remarkably good with just a few marks, most notably a small scrape on the right rear wing just above the bumper. It is all original including a fully functioning CAR300 radio cassette with an electric aerial and original wheel trims, although these have at one time or another become overly familiar with kerbs. The Rhine upholstery is in almost perfect condition, only let down by wear to the passenger seat bolster (see photo). The 1. 4 single overhead cam 8 valve engine runs well and sounds superb and the clutch and gearbox are smooth. Unfortunately the previous owner had lost the service history, but servicing was carried regularly at MOT time and the MOT history is exemplary.
