A 1978 Land Rover Series 3 88 Defender Convertible in lovely condition. A comprehensive ground-up restoration c6yrs ago. Under the bonnet sits the 2. 25-litre petrol bullet proof inline-four engine, coupled with a four-speed manual transmission.
Purchased by me in South Africa in 2023 after a full restoration and bought back to UK Dec 2023.
The bodywork remains in great order, with flush shut lines and smooth panels in Marine Blue. The car is tight with hard roof, rear full door but looks very pretty when stripped having a fold-down safari-style windscreen and tailgate, a Heritage grille, new door pillars, and new bumpers – to give it an on-trend ‘backdated’ aesthetic.
The bench seat is trimmed with red sun bleached leather, original three-spoke steering wheel. Everything is working as it should, with no electrical issues, and there are no warning lights present on the dashboard.
During the ground-up rebuild (2020), the Defender received a comprehensive mechanical overhaul, The car is not used as it should be to be appreciated – ideal for picnics, beach days and day trips out.
This Land Rover Defender 90 is very pretty and ready to go. Looks stunning and wants to be loved.
