Description
1991 Renault 19 Chamade TSE, Spanish-market car, originally built by FASA Renault in Valladolid, Spain.
This is a well-preserved and highly original example of the Renault 19 Chamade, the elegant saloon version of the Renault 19 range. It is finished in dark green with a beige cloth interior and retains its original Spanish registration, SA-4370-M.
The car is the TSE version, equipped with the 1. 4-litre petrol engine, 1, 390 cc, 57. 5 kW / approximately 78 hp, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is a simple, light and usable classic, with straightforward Renault engineering and very reasonable running costs.
The recorded mileage is approximately 135, 000 km. The car presents very well for its age, both inside and out. The bodywork has a clean, original appearance, with correct trim, original-style details and no modern tuning or cosmetic modifications. The interior is one of the strongest points of the car: the beige upholstery, dashboard, door cards and general cabin presentation are all very well preserved for a car from 1991.
The car runs and drives correctly. It has recently passed its Spanish ITV roadworthiness test, which is valid until June 2028. This is the Spanish equivalent of an MOT and gives confidence that the car is not being offered as a project needing immediate inspection work.
The vehicle has also been independently inspected by Certifycar. The report is available to serious buyers and supports the condition, originality and general state of the car. This independent inspection is an important part of the car’s presentation, especially for buyers considering it from abroad.
The car is catalogued as a historic vehicle in Spain. This adds interest and usability, particularly as European cities increasingly restrict older vehicles. Its historic status makes it more than just an old Renault: it is a documented, recognised and well-preserved youngtimer.
I acquired the car in Spain as part of a classic car project focused on original, well-documented and usable vehicles. Since acquiring it, the objective has been to preserve its originality and present it properly rather than modify or restore it unnecessarily.
It is currently located in the Madrid area, Spain.
This is not a concours restoration and it is not being described as a brand-new car. There are, naturally, minor age-related marks consistent with a vehicle of this age. However, its overall originality, preserved condition, recent ITV, historic vehicle status and independent Certifycar inspection make it a very strong example of the model.

A charming, honest and increasingly rare Spanish Renault youngtimer, ready to be enjoyed, collected and preserved.

- details above I like most about this Renault 19 Chamade is that it represents a type of car that has almost disappeared from European roads: an honest, unmodified, well-kept family saloon from the early 1990s.
The Renault 19 was once a very familiar car in Spain, France and many other European countries, but today most examples have either disappeared, been heavily used, modified or neglected. Finding one that still feels original, complete and cared for is becoming increasingly difficult.
I bought this car because it had the qualities I look for in a classic youngtimer: originality, good preservation, Spanish history, usable mechanics and strong period character. It is not an exotic sports car, and that is precisely part of its charm. It is a genuine piece of everyday European motoring history.
The Chamade saloon body gives the Renault 19 a more elegant and distinctive look than the more common hatchback. In dark green, with its beige interior and original Spanish registration, the car has a very period-correct appearance. It feels like a car that has survived rather than one that has been reinvented.
Another detail I particularly like is its Spanish background. It was built by FASA Renault in Valladolid, at a time when Renault had a very strong industrial and cultural presence in Spain. That gives the car an added layer of interest: it is not just a Renault 19, but a Spanish-built Renault 19 with historic vehicle status in Spain.
For me, the appeal of this car is in its honesty. It has not been turned into something it is not. It remains simple, original, practical and full of understated character. The light steering, manual gearbox, compact size and modest 1. 4-litre petrol engine make it easy to enjoy without the stress or complexity of a more expensive classic.
It would suit someone who appreciates preserved everyday classics, not only the obvious collector cars. Cars like this are often overlooked until it is too late, and then clean original examples become very hard to find.
This Renault 19 Chamade stands out because it tells a real story: Spanish-built, Spanish-registered, well-preserved, independently inspected and now catalogued as a historic vehicle. It is a nostalgic, usable and honest youngtimer with a very authentic early-1990s feel.
