It’s time to sell my Mercedes S124 which was registered new at Mercedes UK head office at Tongwell Milton Keynes. The car had had 7 owners and has covered 118, 862 miles(going up as still in use). I’ve had the car for around a year and it’s never let me down, its been extremely useful as it has a very large boot. It’s done a number of long distance trips and always ran well.
The exterior is in ok condition for the age and mileage of the vehicle, the front wings have some damage and rust, new wings are fairly cheap and easy to replace, I just haven’t got round to doing this. There is some rust on the passenger rear wheel arch and a small bit on the boot lid. The alloy wheels have been replaced for ones, which I believe are from a S class. They are in good condition apart from the drivers front, which has some kurb damage. The windscreen has been replaced because it had a crack, which was mentioned of previous MOTs. I have also replaced some of the plastic trim clips securing the door lower cladding.
The interior of the car is in very good condition for its age, the brown interior is very much of the period and I really like it. The drivers seat has some wear to the bolster which someone has tried to repair, the dashboard has no damage or cracks in. The wood on the doors in good as is the dash, the wood around the gear selector has come away in a couple of places. There is a speaker grille missing from one of the rear doors and the other one is showing some rust. This is a 7 seater car and has the seat in the boot, but sadly the seat base is missing. All of the carpets are in good condition and comes with some original floor mats.
The car runs and drives really well. the larger engine fitted to a good standard and pulls really well. A previous owner lowered the car all round. They HR front and Eibach rears. A previous owner also replaced the front shocks and lower arms. I’m my ownership the rear shocks have been replaced to match the fronts. All the dics and pads have also been replaced, including rear handbrake shoes. The auxiliary belt has also been replaced.
The car is not perfect but would be a great summer project and a good useable car. It’s been a great car and now looking for a new owner to take it on. Private plate and radio unit to be removed before sold. Replacement radio will be included, along with some spare parts like original springs
