1998 TVR Chimaera 400.
Mark 2 Chimaera, 4Ltr TVR/ Rover V8, PAS model.
12 owners from new - I have owned this car for 6 years without any problems.
55440 miles at the time of listing, I will be continuing to use the car at weekends, so the mileage may increase. I have owned this car since 2020 and now looking to upgrade. MOT until May 2027, no advisories. No problems with the chassis or oil pressure. Ceramic lead set fitted.
Full service history, with extensive history file. This includes invoice for when the car was new, photos of the car being built in the factory, MOT certificates, receipts and bills covering the last 28 years. TVR leather bound owners manual. 2 sets of keys/ fobs. I cant get it all in the same photo, but it is all present.
Finished in Porsche Polar Silver Metallic, with dark blue leather trim, slate wool carpets, white dials and aluminium dash. The colour combination of this car was one of the main reasons why I purchased it in the first place, it looks stunning and the colours work well together.
Bodywork is in excellent condition, the rear 3 quarters getting new paint in 2022 at Lawfield and Abbott engineering in Blackpool, along with a brand new full hood completed by DC Trim in Blackpool. (Photos available of work carried out). There are some stone chips to the lower front valance, but nothing serious. It is common on these cars. When i purchased the car, the windscreen had a repaired chip on the NS, which is still present.
The interior is original, but is in very good condition for its age. There is the odd mark, but there are no rips or tears in the leather. New seat belts fitted in 2020. All the dials, switches and dash lights work as they should.
In the 6 years of my ownership, the car has had the following work done. I cant list everything, but here are some of the major items.
Full Silicone hose set including those going to the heater matrix. (2021)
Cooling fan bypass switch
Rear 3 quarters re spray and brand new hood as mentioned above (2022)
All wheels have been fully refurbed, with Uniroyal rainsport 5 tyres (2022)
New diff and mounting bushes (2025)
New wiper motor, wiper arms and blades (2022)
New heater fan motor (2020)
New clutch master (2020) and slave cylinder (2022) and associated pipework.
Water pump, auxillary tensioner and new belt (2022)
MAF Sensor (genuine Lucas 2021)
Modified boot opening bracket for full opening tailgate.
New Stepper motor (2020)
Looking back in the service history file which is extensive. The outriggers were done in 2017, New steering rack 2017. New meta alarm system 2017. The car had a new engine in 2005.
Because I have used this car for touring on the continent, I did purchase a Cambria cirrus folding roof panel, - details above. Should a buyer want this, this will be at an extra cost. This does make touring so much easier with one of these cars. There are also a vareity of roadtrip spares, again which can be included at an extra cost.
The car has been 100% reliable, I have completed several european roadtrips across germany and france (2000-3000 miles each time). It has never let me down. It drives lovely and sounds great.
