Motobi 250cc four speed race bike
Not run since complete rebuild. Needing wheel rims and spokes built onto supplied hubs, and flywheel ignition (Vape) to complete.
Work carried out includes:
Frame strengthened in the style of Zanzani factory racers, powder coated
Swing arm lengthened
New bearings, seals and gaskets throughout
New valves, seats, guides and springs
New Dellorto PHBH30 carburettor with custom manifold and float bowl
Inlet tract gas flowed to accommodate larger carburettor (30mm)
Bored to 75mm
New piston set
New big and little ends
Crank balanced
New Surflex clutch plates
New Marelli CW260L spark plug
Twin rocker box breathers
Glass fibre fairing - new
Racing seat and petrol tank - new
Elliot electronic tachometer
Vapour blasted rear hub with new Ferodo brake shoes and a new sprocket (needs spokes & rim)
Front racing hub with TLS brakes (needs spokes & rim)
New front sprocket (chain needed)
Custom stainless steel racing exhaust - one piece (unsilenced)
Alloy rear-sets
Tomaselli fast action throttle
Marzocchi forks - rebuilt with new seals
Ceriani rear shocks - rebuilt and repainted
Paddock stand and side stand
Blanked off kickstart
New cables
Fuel cap, drain plug etc drilled for wiring up
Some parts are included. This will make an excellent track day or parade bike. Would be fun on sprints too. It won't take much to get race ready.
The original bike is thought to have been built around 1968 - engine number 101295 (Barracuda?) VIN 417013
The bike was owned by John Leatham who was originally from Northern Ireland but lived, worked and raced it in Canada. He was a very good engineer. He returned to Ireland and then lectured engineering. His home was in Port Stewart, a stones through from The Ulster road circuit. I have a VHS of the bike being raced in N. Ireland.
