Description
Hello, thank you for looking at the sale of my much loved, cracking ride, fully restored, RG570cc.
Only for sale due to thinning out collection further.
Since a full nut and bolt restoration which mainly used new parts and / or significantly evolved and improved parts, the bike has covered only circa 2000 Miles.

Lamb chop Rides - I've Finally ridden my dream motorcycle
Original build completed in August 22
Further upgrade to GSXR750 Wheels, Front Brakes and fresh tyres 2024
The video was made pre the mods to the wheels and tyres so handling and braking has been improved further
Fully restored nut and bolt bare frame resto by an RG fanatic and 2stroke enthusiast with over 20 years experience running and restoring many RG500.
This RG is built to ride and to enjoy the holy grail of motorcycling, and deliver that 500cc 2stroke theatre which no other motorcycle can come close to comparing with.
So, if you want 120RWHP, tastefully sorted handling and braking, a restored bike rebuilt with practically all new parts, this bike is for you. A ride where the Carburettion is set up perfectly meaning it’ll trundle in traffic without spluttering to a stall, and it’ll happily punch out 120RWHP without seizing up.
This bike is not the one for you if you’d sooner compare originality and matching numbers with other like-minded anoraks, and prefer to ride a standard bike which is at my polite best “of its age” and a bit of an anti-climax disappointment, if we are being honest. But not this RG500
Price reflects the investment in the parts to build the bike, and for a bike evidenced by the video, that is so well set up, it can actually run through the gears down the highway without breaking - as in reality so many 2 strokes that haven’t been professionally set-up, do do.
This RG500 wants for nothing, has just been fully fluid serviced and carbs set up.
The plus side of this Skoal Bandit is the high quality mechanical spec, the new components and how it rides. Flawless at any throttle angle, low revs in car park, and on the go at full throttle.
The down side is that it was originally registered as an RG 400 on the V5 and has aftermarket fairings.
The frame / chassis number stamped on the headstock matches the V5.
The RG400 parts which are different to the 500 are carbs, clutch plates, front discs and coolant gauge. All the parts used in the rebuild of this bike are 500 parts, or meet but mostly exceed the spec of RG500 parts.

So pedantic was Mike's build standards, he even had 570cc machined into the cylinder barrels. The speedo is mph, the coolant gauge is the 500’s and not the 400’s combined fuel level and coolant temp gauge.
The money on this one is not because it’s a numbers matching collectors RG, the money is because of how well it rides, because it exists to be ridden, not Sat by the fire on show in a living room.
What makes this bike is the engine, pipework and tuning.
Motor Built by Mark Dent of Performance Fabrications. With Mark’s pipes and tuning, the standard power output has been increased from stock 500cc approximately 80BHP, to precisely 118BHP on his dyno.

Further to the work that Mark and Mike did I have subsequently upgraded the wheels and tyres to GSXR750 ones to allow the fitment of bigger tyres than the stock 1980's ones and also to enable improved front brake fitment with GSXR front calipers and master cylinder.

As mentioned the bike rides beautifully with the upgrades to the suspension and now with the wheels and brakes it is even better.
I love riding this thing it thrills me every time . The noise and character of the motor, The pin sharp handling . I have had loads of two strokes and this is by far the best I have ever had. The only reason I am reluctantly selling it is I am getting older and would like to get on something more like a cruiser as my back is not as supple as it once was
The price is firm and for that I will include the standard RG500 wheels that are in perfect condition with a lovely Gold powder coated finish (They are fitted with Bridgstone battlax BT45 tyres - also excellent), Front and rear discs, rear sprocket, All wheel bearings Should someone want to go back to OEM spec wheels
