Description
A rare opportunity to own a genuinely rust-free Renault 5 automatic that’s still being used and enjoyed as a daily driver. Showing just 34, 000 miles, this surviving example is in remarkably solid condition for its age. The car has recently been serviced, including fresh fluids and brake adjustment, and benefits from tyres fitted around a year ago. It also has a Bluetooth head unit and upgraded JVC speakers, making it far more usable in modern traffic. Recent maintenance includes a replacement fuel cap, and I have approximately £150 worth of paint ready to have the bumpers professionally restored back to their original deep black finish. As expected for a 37-year-old classic, there are a few cosmetic dents and blemishes, but the body remains impressively rust-free. The interior is also in very good condition and presents well. Mechanically, the carburettor could do with a tune as it can occasionally hesitate for a few seconds on cold starts. Once warmed up, it starts, drives and cruises reliably. There are also a few steering-related knocks that could benefit from investigation but do not stop it being used regularly. A rare French classic that’s becoming increasingly difficult to find in this condition, especially with such low mileage and an automatic gearbox. Rust free, full service history dating back to 1989 with the original bill of sale.
