For sale: my BMW E46, fitted with the straight-six M54B22 rated at 171bhp (brought up to around 185bhp). The car has 346, 000 km on the clock, but it has been the subject of a full mechanical and cosmetic restoration. High-mileage motorway use, bodywork with not a hint of rust, and the mechanicals are ready to cover another 346, 000 km without hesitation. I’m selling exclusively to wrap up the project and move on to a new restoration.- The car will be available from the end of July, pending the final ASI and CRS paperworkHistory:- First German owner (2002); imported into Italy in 2009- In the process of registering with ASI/ CRS (Certificate of Historic Relevance), paperwork expected by the end of the month. Road tax reduced by 60% and classic insurance of around €250/ year- Listed in the logbook with LPG; currently switched off, but the cylinder has just been re-tested and is valid until 2029- CarVertical report available and cleanWork carried out:- New battery- Vanos unit rebuilt- New spark plugs and some coil packs replaced- Rocker cover opened for inspection (perfect internal condition; I can provide videos), new rocker cover gasket- Replaced oil vapour recovery system pipes and CCV, all service belts, thermostat and new water pump- Fitted part of the intake system, mass air flow sensor and electric fan from BMW 325/ 330i E46 (derivation)- Completely re-built rear tailgate wiring from scratch, plus new bulbs- Just had a full service/ maintenance done with all fluids replaced- Replaced faulty front windscreen wiper motorPreparation:- Bespoke straight-through exhaust with a silencer that has a wirless valve- Dedicated engine map for managing backpressure, with small “popcorn” pops that can be activated via the throttle pedal on commandCosmetics:- New paint on the front wings and bonnet to remove the faded clearcoat from age. Zero rust; only minimal wear scratches from decades of use- Replaced gloss black kidney grilles and BMW Black/ White badgesOptions:- Leather seats; front heated (rear seats have just been redone and are in the process of being fitted), rear privacy blind operated from the driver’s side- Shadow Line package (factory—all black details)- Complete original Premium Harman Kardon system with subwoofer and factory HiFi speakers- Xenon headlights, headlight washers, rear parking sensors, cruise control, dual-zone climate control (just recharged), GPS, and front fog lights/ rear fog lights- Several alternative tyre sizes already homologated in the logbook (see photos)The car is currently insured with a classic policy and is available for any test or inspection with your trusted mechanic.
