A quite rare (35 only!) limited edition commemorative model.
If you are reading this ad, you probably know what this model is all about. Just in case though, here is a brief history.
The Smart Brabus Fortwo Edition Red was a limited edition produced in September 2006, of only 50 cars produced 35 were coupés and 15 were cabriolet versions. It was a limited run to celebrate the end of the 450 (first gen), prior to the 451 launch in 2007. The paintwork was Intense Red, including the Tridion, together with all interior paintwork. Also unique to the Edition Red are black Alcantara and leather seats with contrast red diamond stitching. Similarly with the door linings and leather pockets. The dash is black Alcantara, with contrast red stitching, and with a factory-fitted BRABUS aluminium plaque at the front edge. All unique to this model.
Engine-wise, to the Mercedes engine the Edition Red got the uprated 60kw parts (camshaft, turbocharger, yellow injectors, intercooler) and uprated Roadster gearbox ratios, together with wider wheels and Brabus factory body mods.

Being a "petrolhead", during my years ownership I have corrected all the typical issues that occur with the 450 including clutch replacement... usually they have worn out by 80k miles.
I arranged for S2Smarts of Leighton Buzzard (highly respected among the Smart fraternity) to carry out the following extensive maintenance 10 months ago (I have all receipts to prove):
New clutch assembly (flywheel, clutch, thrust bearing).
SAM fully re-soldered.
New intercooler.
New water pump.
New rear slave cylinders.
Full service - C Service 4:2 .
New fuel filler cap.
MOT until Sept. 2026.
S2Smarts’ work was carried out at 81, 986 miles and current mileage is 83, 132 (this may rise slightly, as I use the car occasionally).
Work I’ve carried out:
Windscreen and rear quarter windows all removed, cleaned up and re-sealed together with new genuine Mercedes windscreen surround rubber.
So no cabin leaks!... which Smarts are notorious for, see the 'Evilution' website.
Glass panoramic roof is in excellent condition, with no leaks or marks.
Air con is fully working.
Recent valet.
The Edition Red is in excellent condition, and was first registered 30/ 01/ 2007.
Premium quality tyres all have excellent tread and in great condition.
Team Dynamics 16 inch rims all in excellent condition.
Everything works as it should. It performs great. And it’s fun to drive!
Both keys are present.
Please note... All the typical issues for the Smart 450 model have now been addressed.
To recap on this:
New full Clutch assembly installed - usually worn out by 80k miles, be wary!
SAM module fully re-soldered - cause of electrical problems, eg no gears!
New intercooler.
New water pump.
New rear brake slave cylinders.
New fuel filler cap.
Plus FULL engine Service (oil, filter, plugs.. all 6!, coolant, air filter, cabin filter etc etc... see S2Smarts website for their extensive C Service schedule.
Windscreen and both rear quarter windows removed, cleaned and resealed. No water leaks!
All MOT’s present from 2011.

I bought the car privately last summer (2025) and have enjoyed it immensely. Unfortunately my partner is not so keen, the suspension is too "sporty" for her (she has arthritis in her spine and knee). We now have a VW Up, so “Ed Red” has to go. I have thoroughly enjoyed my ownership and being "the petrolhead" have sorted out the issues and maintained the car as it should be. A new owner can now continue to enjoy a really quite rare car, complete with Brabus unique interior and paint.
