Finished in Diamond Silver metallic paintwork with excellent Marine Blue velour trim and matching door cards presented in time-warp condition.
Retaining the limited edition silver metal dashboard plaque numbering this example #289/ 300 supported by a period letter from Volkswagen UK dated 1978.
A low mileage example showing just 55, 000 miles from new, representing a little over 1, 000 miles per annum. Has always been garaged and has been in dry storage and off the road for the past 10 years. Recently recommissioned and running perfectly following a full service.

Manufactured in 1978 and registered in 1978, the original owner of this LE Beetle cherished the car for 14 years, I have owned it for 34 years straight since 1992 and it's now showing just two former keepers on the V5. I have all of the original books and documents with the car which was supplied by Colborne Garages in Surrey, a VW main dealer at the time. Original service book, owners manual and other books such as list of authorised dealers, and Blaupunkt radio instructions - all in Colborne Garages blue wallet. Still has the original Colborne Garages number plates at front and rear. Colborne as window sticker, tax disc holder and keyring. Two sets of keys. Locking glovebox, fuel cap and rear engine lid, plus original Blaupunkt radio are the fitted period extras. Has the original tool roll and jack. Externally the paintwork has slight surface rust in some places but overall presents extremely well. To be back to its best the car will need a careful and sensitive repaint in places. Plus new running boards and wheel hub caps. I have purposely left the vehicle as it is for the next owner so that the originality can be seen. This is an extremely solid example and with minimal effort and only moderate expense can be turned into a concours model. Engine is strong with only 55k miles from new and runs perfectly. Tyres and exhaust fine. Brightwork is good and complete but some of it such as door handles and headlamp surrounds could do with re-chroming to make perfect. Still has its original front and rear chrome bumpers with the correct rubber inserts. All glass is original and never been replaced including the opening quarter lights. Rubber seals in good order. Interior carpet and seats very clean with no wear. Unrepeatable opportunity to own a piece of history. Car&Classic valuation appears as last photo but note this is for regular 1978 VW Beetle and not the Last Edition individually numbered silver jubilee model. Priced to sell by motivated seller.
