* Monte Carlo Blue – This is the biggest factor. Monte Carlo Blue was produced in relatively small numbers on the P38 (paint code 608) especially in the UK. It isn’t a colour you see often at shows or for sale.
* 2001 Thor engine – Yours has the later Bosch “Thor” V8, which is generally preferred over the earlier GEMS engine because of its improved management system and diagnostics.
* HSE specification – The HSE was the flagship trim, so it came with the best equipment available at the time.
* Original colour – It’s still wearing its factory Monte Carlo Blue rather than having been colour changed, which collectors always value more.
* Mileage – Around 129, 000 miles is fairly sensible for a 25-year-old Range Rover. Plenty have exceeded 200, 000 or have been broken for parts.
* Condition – Aside from the engine issue you’ve been diagnosing, you mentioned the interior is excellent. Good interiors are becoming increasingly uncommon because many P38s have suffered neglect.
