I'm sadly selling my '57 150 4 door sedan. It's had a fortune spent on it, with a 305/ 700r4 combo, with a new Holley 600 carb, replacing the old 6 cylinder/ manual transmission. The front floors were replaced and the whole floor painted with zinc rich paint and dyno matted. The interior was completely refurbished (seats, doors, head lining, carpet), petrol tank replaced, electric fuel pump, brakes overhauled (original drum brakes), radiator re cored , 14 inch electric fan, etc., etc. The majority of the mechanical works were carried professionally. The car itself is an original US Government Car which was run by the National Parks Service - fleet number NPS-51-1. The body work/ paint is completely original, complete with minor dents & scratches, so you see there is no filler or repairs. I had the original door decals professionally re-done as you could still see them. It drives like a dream, fairly economical and great fun to drive. It sits on the original steel wheels with good reversed coker white wall cross-ply tyres (I have five new radials to go with the car). The only issues are that the door rubbers need replacing (easy to get) and, if you're fussy, the gear selector is notchy (my decision to link it to the original manual shift mechanism to not spoil the look). It does work well however and selects all gear just fine. The speedo does not work (I use a digital one) and the dash lights don't work. All other dash gauges work ok, or are auxiliary. The purchase of another car, plus too many vehicles, means the Chevy is up for sale. I have spent a lot of money on the car to make it reliable, comfortable, keeping the exterior as original as possible, but needs must and I have to write off the money spent. I have folders of pictures throughout the work carried out, so you can see just how much has been done. It's an original US Government Car, complete with fleet number and original National Park Service signage restored. The paint and body work are original too, so no filler or welding can be seen.
