This car is in Peacock blue with matching blue tinted windows. It is in need of some restoration.
I bought his just over a year ago with the intention of resorting it myself. Over recent months I have become ill resulting in a long stay in hospital where I was unable to walk. Recovery is likely to be many months and I am no longer physically capable of the work, so I must sell it on.
The good points: the leather is still very supple and free of cracks, it does not appear to have been restored in any way. The chrome/ brightwork is in excellent condition. The previous keeper advises me that work was carried out on the brakes/ hydraulic system and was in good order.
The mileage is obviously questionable, however, there is a sticker in the front door jamb which shows part of the service record showing ‘Next service due, 15742 miles dated April 1989’. Check the Gov. Mot site, the earliest Mot shows 11 July 2005. 20, 505 miles,, through to 28th Nov. 2014. Mileage, 23, 614. The mileage on the clock is 23, 743.
I am making no claims here, however, given that these were ‘Sunday best cars’, and if there was an expensive repair on the horizon, they may have been laid up for a few years. Together with the great condition of the leather and chrome work, it has some credibility, but I have nothing to back this up with. So sold with unknown mileage.
Now the bad bits.
The Everflex roof is damaged way beyond repair. The cheapest option is to remove it and paint the roof. If you can spare the extra time and money, putting a new Everflex roof on will lift this car and make it stand out.
The wings will need taking back to metal and repainting. Depending on your intentions, there is the cheap option or full repaint.
The Bonnet, boot and doors are all aluminium and it may be possible to polish these back to a reasonable standard, leaving only the wings below the swage line to be repainted.
Absolute minimum to put this back on the road in reasonable condition;
Full service including oils and filters.
Repaint 4 wings below swage line.
Repaint roof / replace Everflex roof.
New tyres all round. White wall tyres are still available but are a little more expensive than plain ones. They do lift the look of the car though.
Door cappings are reasonable, but wooden dash will need stripping and repolishing.
The ‘Spirit of Ecstacy’ is not the genuine article. You may want to replace this.
The car starts drives forward and backward and stops. It is not insured, and so can not be driven on the road. I am happy for it to be driven round my field though.
I am located in Burscough Lancashire near to Martin Mere Wildfowl Trust. I am home most days so viewing should be easy to arrange.. I will not be able to help with anything physical or that requires lifting.
