Description

Matching numbers 1965 convertible 327 ( 350BHP ) 4 speed manual with matching hard top ! The one to have

Introduced in 1963, Chevrolet's sensational new Corvette Sting Ray (factory designation C2) represented a quantum leap for America's favourite sports car, both technically and in terms of its dramatic looks, and featured a new ladder-type chassis designed by Zora Arkus-Duntov combined with stunning bodywork penned by Larry Shinoda for Bill Mitchell's styling team. Initially sold with the classic 'small-block' 327ci V8 under the elegant bonnet, the C2 was a significant improvement over the earlier cars thanks to independent suspension all-round, the much stiffer box-section frame and from 1965, the addition of disc brakes at each corner.

This C2 Sting Ray Convertible was built in December 1965 in the St Louis factory, finished in Tuxedo Black over a black interior and, as a 1965 model, benefited from the introduction of 4-pot Kelsey Hayes ventilated discs all round. The specification is impressive and includes a 327ci 350bhp V8 (HV suffix) mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, Positraction (LSD) axle, teak telescopic steering wheel, and a factory-supplied hardtop.

This stunning example, fresh to market from long-term ownership in a private Collection, is undoubtedly one of the best C2 Corvettes in the UK and has been kept dry stored in an air-controlled unit and serviced and maintained by the Collections own engineer, being started and moved regularly. It presents really well with tight shut lines, a good depth of paint, an excellent interior, very tidy corrosion free engine bay and absolutely looks the part sitting on big alloys wearing a new set of Cooper Cobra Radials.
The underside is just as nice with no corrosion evident anywhere as would be expected from a car as well prepared as this.

Having arrived from the US in 2014, the car's records describe it as having only one keeper in the US and four over here in the UK, however, this document has been mislaid and the only documentation with the car is its current V5C and some older MOTs. That said it is clear that this car could well be a 53k mile, as shown on the odometer, example and it shows both originality, matching numbers and absolutely fantastic condition

The Car drives as well as it looks. Engine sounds fantastic and steering nicely weighted and precise. Gear change as good as can be with these 4 speed manuals it allows for a quick burst of speed, pleasantly impressive even for a new car, along with torque rich cruise.

Any inspection and a 4 poster lift for inspections available. It must be one of the best on the market

Matching numbers with a fantastic , the one to want , spec in superb condition with everything working as it should and driving impressively
