A YR5 for the Discerning Enthusiast
This is not simply a bike brought back into service: the restoration covered the engine and the entire machine, and the example has been used very sparingly since.
Its current condition is essentially due to the fact that it has been preserved with great care since restoration.
The few departures from originality are clearly noted, particularly the chroming of the aluminium/ zamak components and the current premix operation. The oil pump and its tank are nonetheless still present.
Bike intended for an enthusiast or collector seeking a fine Yamaha 2-stroke from the 1970s, in excellent working and preservation condition.

I bought this bike 23 years ago. This model matches the bike a friend had when I was 14 years old. It made me dream!
I found it near Montpellier in a deplorable state, but complete. I restored it straight away, regardless of cost. I had all the chrome redone in the Paris region by a specialist and the paintwork was carried out by a car painter. The mechanical work was done by a professional – reboring, crankshaft, replacement of all bearings, etc.
I've ridden it very little; simply owning it was enough for me. Now, with age, I think it's better to part with it for the benefit of an enthusiast who will know how to look after it properly.
